"Chang'e should repent of stealing the elixir, the blue sea and blue sky and night heart." These are two lines from the poem "Chang'e" by the Tang Dynasty poet Li Shangyin. The story of Chang'e running to the moon has been circulating everywhere as early as modern China. According to legend, Chang'e was the niece of the Emperor of Heaven. She is beautiful, the Emperor of Heaven likes her very much, whatever she wants, the Emperor of Heaven will give her. She lived a prosperous life in the Heavenly Palace. Hou Yi is a general under the Emperor of Heaven, who has practiced good martial arts, and his archery skills are very high. In advance, the Wolf was very afraid of the Heavenly Court, and sent several generals, but they were not pacified. The heavenly soldiers and generals were all frightened and did not dare to go out. Hou Yi volunteered to shoot the wolf. With a long sword on his back, a quiver at his waist, and a bow in his hand, he rode the steamer and galloped forward, fighting the wolf for several days and nights, and finally, he shot the wolf to death with an arrow. Since then, the heavenly court has been at peace. The Emperor of Heaven sealed Hou Yi as a protector general and was in charge of the power of the protection army. Chang'e saw that Hou Yi was trusted by the Emperor of Heaven and was mighty and handsome, so she made up her mind to marry him. Chang'e knows that in order to achieve this marriage, the emperor must be the master. She asked the waiter to go to the Milky Way and bring a thousand pearls, and then set them in a crown. She took the crown herself as a gift to the Emperor of Heaven, asking the Emperor to fulfil her marriage with Hou Yi. The Emperor of Heaven knew that Hou Yi was in love with Fu Xi's daughter Luo Shen, and he didn't want to care about these idle things, but he couldn't stand Chang'e's repeated requests, and accepted such a precious gift from her, so it was not easy to refuse, and he thought that Chang'e was his own niece, and Hou Yi got married, and Hou Yi had an extra layer of kinship, and Hou Yi would become his intimate person. Thinking of this, he said to Chang'e: "I'll figure out a way to do this slowly." After a few days, the Emperor of Heaven transferred Luo Shen out of the Heavenly Palace, let her go to govern Luoshui, and did not allow her to return to the Heavenly Court.

A few days later, the Emperor of Heaven ordered a banquet and invited Hou Yi to drink wine. He secretly instructed people to add a potion called forgetfulness grass to the wine that Hou Yi consumed. After drinking this wine, Hou Yi forgot all about his previous love for Luoshen. When Hou Yi was slightly intoxicated, the Emperor of Heaven summoned Chang'e to toast him. Chang'e could also be considered a beauty in the Heavenly Palace, and her splendid attire added to her allure. The Emperor of Heaven pointed to Chang'e and said to Hou Yi: "This is my niece; people say she is pleasing to the eye and her craftsmanship is exceptionally skilled. She made this crown of mine with her own hands. I wish to marry her to you; I do not know what the general thinks?" Hou Yi, having drunk the forgetfulness wine, was again inebriated and gazed at Chang'e, nodding to the Emperor of Heaven in a daze. Thus, Chang'e became Hou Yi's wife. Once, the Emperor of Heaven received a report from Emperor Yao of the Nether Realm, stating that there were many evil beasts in the world. Among these evil beasts were 猰貐 (yà yǔ), chisel tooth, nine infants, gale wind, sealed pig, etc., which were very powerful. The appearance of the beast was quite terrifying; it had a dragon's head, four claws like a tiger, and roared like a wild leopard. This fierce beast had devoured countless people, while the chisel tooth was also a monster, possessing the head of a beast, the body of a poisonous snake, and teeth like sharp serrations. Jiuying was a nine-headed water monster; when it committed murder, the four heads on the left could spit fire, and the four heads on the right could spray water. Fires could destroy crops, and floods could submerge villages. These vicious beasts were wreaking havoc across the country simultaneously, making it impossible for the common people to produce and live. When the Heavenly Emperor of the Upper Realm received the report from Emperor Yao of the Lower Realm, he dispatched the Heavenly Soldiers and Heavenly Generals to the human world to eliminate the threat, sending several batches, all of which were devoured by the evil beasts. The Emperor of Heaven was greatly alarmed and asked Hou Yi to ensure the safety of himself and the Heavenly Court. Hou Yi replied: "If the evil beasts are not eradicated, there will be no peace in the world, and it will be difficult for the Heavenly Court to guarantee safety." Hou Yi voluntarily offered to eliminate these harmful beasts, and the Emperor of Heaven, fearing that the evil beasts would endanger the Heavenly Court, agreed to Hou Yi's request. Hou Yi, carrying a bow and quiver, descended to the world. With his magical arrows, he shot the chisel teeth in the Chouhua fields, eliminated the nine infants above the fierce waters, and shot the wind horse in the green hills. He followed the trail of the monkey, fought north and south, and ultimately shot it to death. He captured the sealed pig in the mulberry forest and eliminated the large poisonous snake that harmed people on the shores of the cave. In addition to the great harm to the people, they expressed their gratitude for his merits, and the Emperor of Heaven conferred an official position upon Hou Yi. Hou Yi was respected and loved by the people, and was crowned by the Emperor of Heaven, making Chang'e happy. However, she felt quite dissatisfied, as Hou Yi often went out to help others and rarely spent time with her in the palace. Previously, there were ten suns in the sky, all of whom were sons of the Emperor of Heaven. Initially, the ten suns were very disciplined, taking turns to appear one after another each day, allowing the people to live normally. However, some of the suns, relying on Lao Tzu's power, gradually became arrogant. Sometimes eight or nine would appear at once, acting recklessly. Rivers and lakes dried up, and the Dragon King feared and despised them. The crops and seedlings on the ground withered, and the people were filled with hatred. But the Emperor of Heaven was their Lao Tzu; where could the people voice their complaints if they suffered? Of these ten suns, there was only one that was the smallest.
